The wind howled around Hrothgar's body as he huddled down against the thick fur of his bear. The cold though brooked no escape from its frosty grip and neither the fur of his mount or that wrapped around him could coerce it to yield. Glancing to his right he spied the Sergeant sitting tall atop his bear, seeming unfazed by the cold. Hrothgar figured that it must be all the spite that kept the man warm because he could not fathom how anything else might in such conditions as these. His bear let out a grunting moan, its frosting breath immediately whipped away by the driving wind as the snow bit like thousands of tiny razors against man and mount.
